Cai Guo-Qiang was born in 1957 in Fujian Province, China, and is considered today to be one of the most important contemporary international artists.
His approach draws on a wide variety of symbols, narratives, traditions and materials such as feng shui, Chinese medicine, dragons, roller coasters, computers, vending machines and gunpowder.
